Because I seriously doubt that anything will come of this series. But alot of fans looking at this audio webseries and thinking that most audio webseries of this type can't follow through.

Because of the massive promises that they have made in the past and all of the time that has passed with nothing to show for it.

I think the better course is to do it right – or don’t do it at all. I’d rather make you wait for something brilliant (I realize I’m starting to sound like Blizzard – “StarCraft 2 will be ready when it’s damn well good and ready”) than immediately release something that’s half-assed.

We did fix Episode 2 – we’ve re-cast two major roles, fixing the audio quality, and put ourselves in a better position to come back strong.

Both Waldo and I, and Tony and the rest of the Gnomes, for that matter, have listened to ALL of the competition. Their shows, their technical difficulties, their triumphs. We know what sounds good and what is bunk.

We love our listeners, we’re not going to show you crap and then insult your intelligence by asking you if it’s crap. We know you know better.

If you don’t like the hard work we’re putting in, then you’ll eventually stop listening – which is never our goal, but we can’t please everyone.

No doubt, we should have had a LOT more episodes out by now.

I’m not sure who said we’re going to be “the greatest Star Trek fan series ever produced” but it wasn’t me. I don’t like to brag about what we’ve done – I think what the cast and crew have done is amazing, but I think, personally, that Waldo and I have done a tremendous wrong to this series.

Being the best has never been our goal – our goal was to do a show that we could learn how to put together.

Keep in mind, none of us are getting paid to do this – so, on top of managing the website, answering comments and all our other hobbies, on top of jobs, family, school, and anything else we get involved in – we have Dimensions. It is, very much, a labor of love.

I can make all the excuses in the world – but the fact remains that we get derailed very easily. No worries at all. The 6-month gap is something we’re all in agreement on! We’re working very hard to bring Star Trek: Dimensions into prime-time. Part of that will be the casting for the whole season’s worth of characters. So watch out for a casting call very soon!

Believe me, we have not given up on Star Trek: Dimensions at all. A lot of things kept us from releasing Episode 2 as soon as we would have liked. I know how frustrating it can be while waiting on this project to materialize. I feel your pain!

Dimensions is a joy to write and I’m working very hard to get a full season completed before we release any more. At that time, we’re going to have a re-launch and along the way I’ll be blogging about the experience with some mini-stories to keep the drool flowing!

It wasn’t the actors or any drama like that, it was just… I didn’t feel we were being true to Trek. And that was our mission in the first place.

Dimensions has been a great learning exercise for all of us here at Giant Gnome. We’re all working very hard to turn this crazy cliffhanger into a series that you’ll enjoy for a long time!

I’m also working on The Trek Project, an attempt to bring short fan fiction and audio drama in the realm of Trek together… we’re starting very small and seeing how it goes. The first episode should grace us by May. These are one-off stories which dive into a specific area of the Trek universe and take us for a small adventure.

In the mean time… and you didn’t hear this from me, but… you’ll have another cast of adventurers coming very, very soon. Outpost is -by-and-large- my favorite iteration of Star Trek audio drama. I’ve been very lucky as part of the Giant Gnome family to hear some early cuts of the first few episodes… and I was blown away. I know you will be too.

So, while you’re waiting for us to get this show on the road, know that you WILL have something awesome to look forward to by May.
